The half marathon course, which unfolds along the first dozen miles of the marathon course and is paved throughout, starts in downtown Olathe along East 151st Street. From there, the course ventures eastward and then northward, following a somewhat zigzag course through the city on its way toward sights like Waterworks Park, Naval Air Park and the Great Mall of the Great Plains.
