Very hilly and very challenging, the course for the Golden Gate Trail Half Marathon is part of a day of races that also feature a full, 26.2-mile marathon, 50K, 30K and a 5-mile run, all of which take runners on a tour of the Marin Headlands inside the magnificent Golden Gate National Recreation Area, just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. Those running the half follow the loop route below once around the park — along the Coastal, Wolf Ridge, Marincello, Bobcat and other trails — while those running the full marathon make two loops.
