Runners start the point-to-point route for the Gorges Ithaca Half Marathon along Dubois Road in the nearby town of Ulysses, just outside Ithaca. From there, they’ll follow the road for the first mile or so as it heads toward the Cayuga Lake valley, and then head onto the Black Diamond Trail, a hard-packed cinder trail which they’ll follow for the next 4 1/2 miles. You’ll pass several waterfalls and also run portions of the Cayuga Lake Waterfront Trail before heading toward the finish line at the Ithaca Commons.
