Runners follow an out-and-back course that winds along the trails of the 4,000-acre Almaden Quicksilver Park just south of San Jose at the New Almaden Hacienda Hills Half Marathon, which starts and finishes at the park’s Hacienda entrance on Almaden Road, near the town of New Almaden. From there, the race winds along the park’s Deep Gulch, Wood Road, Castillero, Mine Hill and Hacienda trails before heading back to the park entrance for the race finish. Runners can expect a climb of nearly 1,200 feet in elevation between the starting line and the peak elevation point of the race, between about miles 5 and 6.
