Runners start the out-and-back course for the Hell of a Half Marathon at Exeter Veteran’s Memorial Park, from the corner of Sequoia Drive and Kaweah Avenue. From there, the race follows roughly a counter-clockwise loop around the city, taking runners along flat city streets for the first few miles, followed by stretches into more rural parts of the surrounding San Joaquin Valley. There are two big hills, around mile 6 and between 10 and 11, and after that the race flattens out again.
