The High Country Half Marathon course starts runners off at Kidd Brewer Stadium on the campus of Boone’s Appalachian State University, and from there the race follows a point-to-point route that features some significant, challenging hills along the way to the finish line in nearby Blowing Rock. There, they make a loop just outside the city before crossing the finish line in Davant Park. The race’s steepest and longest uphill stretch occurs as runners are heading up Winklers Creek Road.
