Runners get the chance to climb what’s been called “Arkansas’s own Pikes Peak” on the Jack-n-Back Half Marathon course, which starts and finishes along rural country highways in Hot Spring County, roughly midway between the small towns of Bismarck and Malvern, Arkansas. From there, the race takes runners north along a winding route up a single road, Highway 128, all the way north to the race’s turnaround point near Lake Hamilton. After that, runners repeat the route they’ve just run in reverse, all the way back to the finish line.
