Runners follow an out-and-back course for the race at the Lewis & Clark Half Marathon, which starts and finishes in Granite Lake Park in nearby Clarkston, across the state line in Washington. From there, runners follow the route almost entirely along the Snake River, following the bends of the river as it curves its way southward down to the half marathon’s turnaround point in Asotin, looking out across the river at Hell’s Gate State Park.
