Runners start the half marathon in the center of Marion along 5th Street, in front of Vernon Middle School in this eastern Iowa town just outside Cedar Rapids. The race first has runners heading towards Marion’s Thomas Park and through one part of its trail system, including stretches around the middle of the course along the Boyston trails, and portions that take runners past Lin Mar Stadium and Hunters Ridge Golf Course.
