Runners start the out-and-back course for the WVU Medicine Morgantown Thirteener in front of the West Virginia University Coliseum, just off Monongahela Boulevard. From there, the race heads out into the neighborhoods just to the north and east of the coliseum, with long stretches along Patteson Drive, University Avenue and Fairfield Street. Once you make it to the turn from Van Voorhis Road onto Burroughs Street, you begin retracing your steps all the way back to the coliseum, passing by Krepps Park and the Core Arboretum before crossing the finish line in the WVU Coliseum parking lot.
