Runners start the out-and-back course for the Olympic Valley Half Marathon at the Village at Olympic Valley, the ski resort that also served as the ski event venue at the 1960 Winter Olympics. From there, the course heads onto a combination of paved roads and some trails through the valley, with stretches alongside the Truckee River, before runners hit the half-way turnaround point on West River Road, almost at Tahoe City. After that, the course heads all the way back to Olympic Valley for the race finish.
