Runners follow an out-and-back loop course through Raleigh at the City of Oaks Half Marathon, which starts and finishes along the northern edge of the North Carolina State University campus. From there, the race heads first into downtown Raleigh, taking runners past the state capitol building and the state government complex along Wilmington and Salisbury Streets, and then later into the Cameron Park and Fairmont neighborhoods before heading back toward campus for the race finish.
