Runners in the half and the full marathons share the same course for the first 13.1 miles of this race, which unfolds largely along Aquidneck Island near Newport and features views of the water throughout. From the starting line on Memorial Boulevard, runners head south toward Bowen’s Wharf and Waite Wharf through downtown, until they later reach Narraganset Avenue, where they turn right and head out along the peninsula-like land formation that juts out into the sound.
