From the starting line in the picnic area just off River Road and the C&O Canal Towpath, where Riley’s Lock Road meets the Potomac River, the Riley’s Rumble Half Marathon heads onto the towpath trail and heads southeast for a long, out-and-back route. Runners will follow the trail for the next 6 1/2 miles, until nearly the point where you reach Riverbend Park and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park, before making the turn and retracing your steps all the way back to the finish line at the picnic area where you started.
