From the starting line at the corner of Poydras Street and St. Charles Avenue in downtown New Orleans, runners in the half marathon follow a point-to-point course along a largely fast and flat route — which you’ll discover is no surprise, thanks to the fact that much of New Orleans lies at or even below sea level. The race features a long stretch along the edge of the French Quarter, and finishes (as in previous years) at New Orleans City Park. Runners in the half share the same course as those running the full for most of the race’s first 13 miles — the full marathoners split off at City Park between mile markers 12 and 13, leaving the half marathoners to head into the park and cross the finish line.
