At the Run Sedona Half Marathon, runners follow an out-and-back course that starts and finishes next to the Verde Valley Medical Center, just off Arizona Route 89A. From there, the route follows roads like Dry Creek Road, Boynton Pass Road and the Forest Service road near the half-way turnaround point, in the shadow of nearby Doe Mountain. You’ll ascend about 1,100 feet in the first 6 1/2 miles, and once you’ve made the turn, you’ll head back along the route you’ve just run, descending about 1,100 feet by the time you reach the finish line.
