A challenging, hilly, high-elevation race, the Sedona Half Marathon course follows an out-and-back that starts and finishes at Sedona Medical Center along Navoti Road, just off Highway 89A, and features a variety of surface terrain, from dirt roads to paved highways. This race is filled with hills — from the starting elevation of about 4,450 feet above sea level, the course rises and falls to a low of about 4,300 feet and a peak of just over 4,650 feet, around the mid-way point of the half. The route takes runners north and west all the way out to the turnaround point on Boynton Pass Road, and from there they run back to Sedona for the finish.
