Runners start the out-and-back course for the Badgerland Striders South Shore Half Marathon along Lake Michigan, and from there head south along the Oak Leaf Bike Trail, part of a system of more than 100 miles of running, walking and biking trails throughout the city. Mostly flat and fast, but with several moderately challenging hills, the course heads through Sheridan Park and reaches its mid-way turnaround point in Grant Park before heading north back along the same route to the race finish at the pavilion.
