Runners follow an out-and-back loop course at Kennesaw’s Locomotive Half Marathon, which starts and finishes along Vaughn Road, just south of the Cobb County International Airport. From there, the race unfolds past the airport runway, Viking Quarry Lake, the campus of Kennesaw State University and through the Barrett Pavilion shopping center before bringing runners back to the race finish on Vaughn Road. It’s mostly flat in the first third of the race, has rolling hills in the middle third and turns flat again in the last few miles.
