Runners follow a point-to-point course for the half marathon at the Walker North Country Marathon race, which starts at the half-way point of the full marathon (the 26.2-mile course is an out-and-back course), just north of Portage Lake. From there, the course follows a winding route through the woods and hills of the forest, taking an eastward tack for the first six miles before turning northward and crossing over the “Troll Bridge” just below Anoway Lake. After that, the course finally hits paved roads for the last few miles of the race.
