Both the full marathon and the half marathon follow a point-to-point course that starts on the edge of the Pasayten Wilderness north of Winthrop and takes runners along a combination of roads through the national forest areas and rural county roads, with the race finish in town on Riverside Avenue. The starting line elevation for the half marathon is about 2,200 feet above sea level, and the course finishes at about 1,800 feet.
