The half-marathon portion of the event, called the Medicine Bow Half Marathon thanks to its location in Wyoming’s Medicine Bow National Forest, shares the same starting line and time as the full and double marathons, and is run on a course made up of mostly dirt and gravel roads. Runners need to be ready for a high-elevation run here, as stretches of the course rise well above 8,000 feet above sea level.
