Runners follow an out-and-back course along the paved park roads inside South Mountain Regional Park at the annual Y Race Phoenix Half Marathon, starting and finishing along South Mountain Park Road. From there, the course takes runners east along San Juan Road through the park, all the way to the race turnaround point at the San Juan parking lot, and from there they head back in the opposite direction to the race finish back where they started.
