Runners follow a hilly, challenging route just north of New York City at the Yonkers Marathon & Half Marathon, which follows a loop course that starts and finishes near the riverfront on Buena Vista Avenue. Those running the half marathon make a single clockwise loop around the course, while runners in the full marathon — which is the nation’s second-oldest continuously operating marathon event, after the Boston Marathon — add another 13.1-mile loop just after the mile 12 marker to complete their 26.2 miles.
