Runners start the out-and-back course for the Zoom Quarry Lakes Half Marathon at Fremont’s Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area, a former quarry pit that dates back to the 19th century and was converted into a park in the late 1990s. From there, they’ll follow the same route used at December’s ZombieRunner Quarry Lakes Run — along the Alameda Creek Trail, from Mission Boulevard all the way west to Alvarado Boulevard and back, before finishing back where they started inside the park.
