Brandon Half Marathon & 5K

Sunday, January 7, 2024 • Brandon, FL • Course Map

Set for its 17th annual running on the second weekend of January, the Valley National Bank Brandon Half Marathon & 5K sees more than 400 runners cross the finish line each year — including more than 250 runners in the half marathon alone — at a race that takes runners on a fast, flat course through the streets of Brandon and nearby Tampa.

Run entirely on paved surfaces, with a few gradual uphill and downhill stretches, the race takes runners over highways (particularly the Selmon Expressway) in this community that lies just to the east of the Tampa-St. Petersburg metropolitan area.

Finishers’ medals were presented to every runner who crossed the finish line, as well as trophies for those runners who placed in their respective age groups.

The half marathon — which is organized and run by the local Brandon Running Association athletic club — race starts and finishes at Brandon’s Oakfield Business Center on Oakfield Drive and features a 7:00 AM starting time, followed by those participating in the 5K run at 7:15 AM.

Race Weather & Climate

Nestled along the central Florida Gulf Coast, just a few miles east of Tampa, St. Petersburg and both Hillsborough and Tampa Bay, Brandon typically experiences weather conditions just like those of its larger neighboring cities, with mild to moderately cool conditions in the late fall and early winter seasons.

On race day (Jan. 7), the average low is 49ºF and the average high is 72ºF.
