Gulf Coast Half Marathon & 5K

Sunday, April 2, 2023 • Pensacola Beach, FL • Course Map

Beautiful white-sand beaches, boardwalks, waves coming in along the shore and gentle breezes off the Gulf of Mexico will no doubt be frequent sights and experiences at Florida’s Gulf Coast Half Marathon (inspired by Running Wild), which is set for its 12th annual running this year along the shoreline of Pensacola Beach and the Gulf Islands National Seashore.

Planned as an out-and-back half marathon race that takes runners from the Casino Beach Boardwalk out onto the roads that run alongside both the waters of the Gulf to the south as well as the Santa Rosa Sound to the north, the race will feature a fast and very flat course, thanks in large part to its location along the beaches.

After starting the race at 7:00 AM Central Time at the parking lot at Casino Beach, runners will finish the race just a short distance away, at the Santa Rosa Island Authority building on Via DeLuna Drive.

Race organizers say the race will be open to both runners and walkers — it’s a walker-friendly course, thanks also to its flat terrain.

The race is limited to the first 2,000 entrants, and runners will have a 4-hour course time limit for the race — which means you’ll need to keep a pace of 18 minutes per mile or faster.

Race Weather & Climate

Nestled near the easternmost corner of the Florida panhandle, just across the bay from the city of Pensacola and just over an hour’s drive from Mobile, Ala., the Gulf area known as Pensacola Beach is known for its mild to moderately warm springtime temperatures, and year-round ample precipitation.

On race day (April 2), the average low is 59ºF and the average high is 72ºF.

    Good Morning
I ran the half on Sunday and placed 3rd in my division. There was a photographer there taking pictures as awards were given out. Where would I find these photos. I would like to have the one of me.
Thanks it was a great race!
