Are you ready for a half marathon that takes you through one of Georgia’s most iconic landmarks? Look no further than the Jekyll Island Half Marathon! 

Starting at the corner of Shell Road and Beachview Drive, runners will make their way north on Beachview Drive for about 5.5 miles. At this point, you’ll move onto the bike path, which will take you on a beautiful southbound route. Get ready to be wowed by the stunning views of the marshlands and the towering oak trees that Jekyll Island is so famous for. You’ll also get a chance to check out the famous Driftwood Beach, known for its eerie beauty and unique charm. 

But the sights don’t end there. You’ll also get to cruise through the Clam Creek area before making your way to the finish line at the Village Green. That final stretch is something special! The USATF-certified course is designed to showcase all the breathtaking beauty of the areawhile also taking you past some of its most historic sites. 

But there’s more to Jekyll Island than just its stunning vistas. Runners will be transported back in time as they travel through the Jekyll Island Club National Historic Landmark – one of the biggest restoration projects that’s ongoing in the southeastern portions of the United States. It’s a testament to the island’s storied past and attracts visitors from all over the world. 

Whether you’re a seasoned runner looking to set a personal best or a first-timer looking for a new challenge, the Jekyll Island Half Marathon has something for everyone. Don’t forget to stick around for the post-race party!

Jekyll Island Marathon Race Weather & Climate

In mid-winter, Jekyll Island experiences cooler temperatures. On January 14th, the average low temperature is around 43°F, and the daytime temperatures can reach an average high of approximately 59°F. It’s a cooler day, so if you plan to visit, be prepared for the winter chill, but it’s still suitable for exploring the island’s natural beauty.

Starting Time

The half marathon start time is 7:40 AM ET. There is a 7 hour time limit for the half marathon with end time of 3:00 PM ET.
