Run the Reagan Half Marathon, 10K, 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run

Saturday, February 23, 2019 • Snellville, GA • Course Map

A late winter fixture on the metro Atlanta road race calendar, Snellville’s Run the Reagan Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and fun run welcomes more than 3,000 runners each year for all races combined, along a course that unfolds along the Ronald Reagan Parkway just north of Snellville.

Runners can choose between the half-marathon, 10K, 5K or 1-mile fun run, and all of the races start near Emory Eastside Medical Center at the corner of Ronald Reagan Parkway and Presidential Circle in Snellville, Georgia. The race courses are moderately challenging, with no traffic as Ronald Reagan Parkway is closed the day of the race.

The half course takes runners along paved surfaces throughout the entire race — this out-and-back race is run entirely along the Reagan Parkway, a 7.3-mile-long four-lane highway that connects Snellville with nearby Lilburn.

Water stops are found every 1-1/2 miles along the course, and medical attention and port-a-johns are available at various convenient points.

Proceeds from the race go to benefit three of Gwinnett County’s non-profit organizations, the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry, the Lilburn Cooperative Ministry, and the Brookwood Schools Foundation.

Here’s what one runner, Renee Fender, had to say about the 2014 Run the Reagan Half: “I ran the half marathon last year in 2013 and will probably do so again this year. Seemed well organized, well priced, easy commute to get to, plentiful parking with a large shopping center to park in (with a Starbucks!) Nice finisher and placing medals. Last year was cold and windy. The course itself is pretty boring- you run 6 miles down the highway, then turn around and run 6 miles back up. The worst part for me was the last 3 miles. Check out the elevation map if you haven’t. Out and back, so what goes down must come up! Flat for the 6 miles in the middle at least. Pretty void of spectators with the exception of the water station crews, but I guess that is to be expected with a small, local race. Also, when we were coming into the last miles, the 10k I believe, we were having to pass the 10k walkers. There were no specific lanes for 10ks and half runners so it was a dodge around situation. I think this could be fixed with maybe some cones put out towards the end to designate slower runners/walkers on the right.”
