Experience the beauty of the “Bluff City” in a race that combines scenic views with a flat and fast course. Join us for the Mt. Carmel Fall Classic – a thrilling event offering timed 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances, catering to runners of all levels.
The adventure begins and ends at the Mt. Carmel Merchant’s Park, conveniently situated at the crossroads of 4th and Market Streets. As the morning sun graces the start line, racers will embark on their journey at 8:00 am, with all participants required to assemble in the start corral by 7:50 am.
For those aiming to conquer the half marathon, be prepared to finish by 11:00 am CST, marking the close of the course. Runners crossing the finish line after the 3-hour mark won’t be officially timed, so lace up your running shoes and aim for a triumphant finish.
Celebrate your achievements with awards for the top male and female finishers in each race, segmented by age groups spanning from 1 to 99 years old. The competitive spirit reaches new heights with cash prizes for the overall winners – $50 for the Half Marathon and $25 each for the 10K and 5K.
Fuel your race-day excitement with packet pickup during the week of October 23 at the Mt. Carmel Public Utility office. Remember to bring a copy of your registration for a seamless experience. Limited race day packet pickup is available, so plan accordingly. Unfortunately, race day sign-ups won’t be accepted.
Beyond the thrill of the run, the Mt. Carmel Fall Classic is dedicated to making a meaningful impact. All proceeds will support the non-profit organization Wabash Rally Against Cancer (WRAC). Mt. Carmel is situated in the southeastern part of Illinois, serving as a city in Wabash County. Located approximately 160 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri, Mt. Carmel is a community with a rich history and ties to the coal mining industry. Additionally, it stands about 20 miles west of the Indiana state line, emphasizing its location as a southeastern Illinois city with connections to neighboring states.
