With a scenic route, flat and rolling terrain, and a spectator-friendly course, the Sly Fox Half Madness & 10K is already making waves in the Chicagoland race circuit. The fifth annual event in 2019 brings a course designed for beginners and pros alike.
The half marathon course begins at 7:00 AM sharp in downtown St. Charles, and from there runners head west through residential neighborhoods before turning right toward Foundry Street and cutting through nearby Timbers Park.
The race route gains more trees at this point, providing runners with a scenic route of the St. Charles countryside.
At around mile 4.5, the course continues north onto the Mid County Trail, veering left and northward onto the countryside of Crane Road just before mile 6.
Runners return to the Mid County Trail just past mile 8, this time heading south. After mile 10, much of the path on Dean Street leading to the finish line is familiar from the first half of the course.
With free food and beer and discounts available from local shops, the after-party is one worth staying for, even for family and friends. Runners and spectators are encouraged to stay and socialize after completing the half marathon.
