Holy Half Marathon & 10K

Saturday, April 13, 2024 • South Bend, IN • Course Map

Set for its 19th annual running this year, Notre Dame’s Holy Half Marathon features an out-and-back double-loop course that takes runners largely on the paved walking paths that wind around and through the Notre Dame campus, including stretches around St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Lakes.

More than 1,000 runners cross the finish line each year at the race, which — like the race in past years — donates its proceeds to local charities ranging from the South Bend Center for the Homeless to Michiana Down Syndrome, which serves people and families living with Down Syndrome in the northwest Indiana/southwest Michigan region.

Runners will start and finish the out-and-back loop course for the race in front of the Stepan Center, located at the corner of Stepan Drive and St. Joseph Drive.

From there, the course unfolds along the roads and walking paths in a counter-clockwise loop through campus, taking runners first north toward the residence halls and academic buildings, and later past the Fighting Irish athletic stadiums and facilities, including its football and baseball stadiums.

The course later turns to the right on the South Quad, and takes runners west toward the Knute Rockne Memorial athletic, fitness and recreational building, where they’ll run all the way to the front of the building, make two quick right turns, and then head east back along the north walk back toward the Main building, whose famous golden dome has long been a symbol of the university.

The next couple of miles take runners out on the paths that wind along the edges of both St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Lake, nearly all the way around the shoreline of both lakes.

Once runners make it back to Holy Cross Drive, they start the stretch that brings them back toward the performing arts center, where they’ll cross the starting line a second time and begin the second half of the race, repeating the route they’ve just run before crossing the finish line.
