Get ready to join the fun and excitement of the Greater DSM Hy-Vee Half Marathon Series, (previously known as Greater Des Moines Women’s Half Marathon), happening in September of 2024 in the heart of Des Moines, Iowa. This year, the event includes a new co-educational format, making it an inclusive event for all runners.
The half marathon is the centerpiece of the race series, covering a distance of 13.14 miles with 268 feet of elevation gain. Starting right on Court Avenue, just a few feet away from the Polk County Courthouse in downtown Des Moines, runners will embark on a journey, taking them through the beautiful and well-planned neighborhoods of the city.
As the race begins, runners will feel the energy and excitement, with cheering crowds lining the streets, boosting their morale and making their journey both fulfilling and memorable. Race participants will experience the charm and unique culture of Des Moines, passing by all the beautiful parks, historic landmarks, and local businesses that make the city so special. The event culminates back at the Courthouse.
