Get ready to race through the city known as the “Red Stick” and support a good cause at the same time. 2019 marks the fourth annual running of Our Lady of the Lake (OLOL) Children’s Hospital Amazing Half Marathon & 5K, presenting a fast and flat course through downtown Baton Rouge.
The half marathon course begins in downtown Baton Rouge near Louisiana’s Old State Capitol building and almost immediately turns left onto South River Road, followed by turns onto St. Phillip Street and Nicholson Drive. Just past mile 2, the course enters the Louisiana State University campus, passing Tiger Stadium and running along the University Lake to finish out the first half of the race.
The second half of the race takes runners back around the University Lake and onto the LSU campus, this time leading runners along the gorgeous Sorority Row along the lake and through the campus before retracing the route of the first two miles and crossing the finish line.
The half marathon has a time limit of four hours, making the race a good choice for those wishing to walk the half marathon. Strollers are also welcome on the course.
