Boston’s Run To Remember Half Marathon & 5-Mile

Monday, May 27, 2024 • Boston, MA • Course Map

Boston’s Seaport World Trade Center is the starting and finish lines and hosting venue for the Run To Remember Half Marathon & 5-Mile Race, which raises money in tribute to fallen law enforcement officers for the city’s Kids at Risk programs, benefiting Boys & Girls Clubs, summer camps, science camps and many other children’s nonprofits.

Though perhaps not as famous as its counterpart staged by the Boston Athletic Association each October, the event is gaining popularity and marks its 17th annual running this year, after last year’s race saw more than 9,000 runners cross the finish line in both races combined, including just over 7,000 finishers in the half marathon alone.

The course for the race unfolds through Boston’s wealth of historic sights and streets, taking runners from the start at the Seaport WTC past Boston Harbor and across the Longfellow Bridge over the Charles River, meanwhile running past the gorgeous, green grounds of the Boston Common and Public Garden.

In the second half of the race, the course takes participants along the river to Harvard University and within view of Boston University and Fenway Park across the river.

Mostly fast and flat (with the exception of a few hills and bridges), the race is run entirely along Boston’s city streets, with the largest portion of the race taking place along historic Memorial Drive, with ample views of the city skyline and plentiful areas for spectators cheering you on.

The event’s five-mile run follows the same course as the half-marathon until reaching the intersection of Cambridge and Charles Streets, where those running the shorter race turn left and complete the last stretch of the half course before finishing back at the Boston Seaport.

I am running the half. You are welcome to stay with me and my family the night before, we live in Revere, which is 5 miles from the race starting point and the “T” (Boston slang for Subway) is close to our home and easily gets you in the city in 10 minutes. We’re a Christian home and get a lot of satisfaction from helping others. Email me davidhj2586@gmail.com
