The Michigan Monster Dash Half Marathon, 10K, & 5K celebrates its 5th running in 2023 within Kensington Metro Park. Take part in a Michigan Halloween tradition!
The out-and-back half marathon course takes runners along the shoreline of Maple Beach and through the peaceful woodlands of the park.
With the revamped course, runners no longer have to battle through hills, particularly toward the finish line. Instead, runners can expect a relatively flat and fast course that features only 529 feet of elevation gain. In fact, you’ll even hit a downhill followed by a flat stretch toward the finish line—perfect for powering through to that PR!
If you’re new to racing and worried that you’ll need a lot of time to finish, fear not! All races end at 1:00 PM, which leaves a generous 4-hour time limit for the half marathon, as well as ample time to finish the other distances.
Want to make this a family affair? A 1K Kids Run/Walk, featuring on-course trick-or-treating, is open to all kids and held at 11:00 AM, after many parents have completed their races.
Even the littlest of participants is welcome to join in the fun. The main race events are stroller friendly for those who’d like to push their children. All organizers ask is that slower stroller racers line up toward the back of the pack to allow faster runners to pass by unimpeded.
Dogs are welcome on course, as well, as long as they are well-behaved and kept on a short leash. Make sure to clean up after them!
Take Note
For those who don’t have a season pass to Kensington Metro Park, where the race is held, there is a $10 charge per vehicle.

Late October weather in Milford offers mild conditions for running. Expect cool weather, with average daily temperatures ranging from 39°F to 54°F
