Saturday, September 12, 2015 • Forest Lake, MN • Course Map
Set for its 5th annual running along a mostly fast and flat course that winds among the lakes and waterways here in this corner of southeastern Minnesota, less than an hour’s drive north from the Twin Cities area, the Maranatha’s Road Race takes runners on an out-and-back run.
The race is sponsored by Polaris and designed as a fundraiser to benefit the families and loved ones of America’s military service men and women, especially those who have lost their lives in service to the country in the recent wars and conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The race also is run in honor of those currently serving in the military today, to celebrate and recognize their sacrifice and service.
Runners will start the race just north of Forest Lake, a small city of just over 18,000 residents that lies next to the lake from which it takes its name, at the intersection of Forest Boulevard and North 250th Street, between Forest Lake and the nearby town of Wyoming.
From there, the half marathon then heads out on what is roughly an out-and-back loop course that follows a counter-clockwise route into Wyoming and then eastward toward Green Lake and Little Green Lake.
The race terrain is made up of a combination of stretches through these small Minnesota towns as well as sections out on the rolling country roads between Wyoming and the lakes, where runners can expect some rolling hills especially in the second half of the course. The finish line lies back on 250th Street, just a few blocks from the starting line.
Each aid station along the race route will have both water and Powerade, organizers note, while GU runner’s packets will also be available at some points during the race.
