Temperatures may already be dipping below freezing in mid-November, but that doesn’t stop runners in Missouri’s Longview Half Marathon, run to benefit Saint Luke’s Home Care & Hospice.
The half marathon course begins on Pittenger Road next to Longview Lake. From there, runners head north along Raytown Road and East 109th Street. Rolling hills guide runners toward the turnaround point at High View Drive, and runners retrace their steps along East 109th Street before continuing south along Raytown Road.
The course continues as Raytown Road merges into tree-lined Kurzwell Road and then into the local bike path, which runners follow north along the lake. From there it’s a few more smaller hills north to the finish line, where food, drinks, and celebrations await.
Race organizers note that the time limit for the course is three hours; runners need to maintain a 14-minute mile throughout the race.
