runsignup-blueOn a late September morning, runners will find themselves at the Adams County Half Marathon starting line. The smell of autumn is sure to be in the air with crisp yet enjoyable temperatures that is bound to make for an enjoyable early fall 13.1-mile race.

The race will begin at the end of Miller’s Bakery & Furniture, a local store that sells Amish food and home goods. With the bakery brewing, marathoners may get a whiff of delicious Amish bread and pastries.

The race is set to take off at 8:00 AM and once the starting line is far behind them, marathoners will be able to trek through the Amish community country farms that line Wheat Ridge and Unity roads.

Runners will be greeted by beautiful green rolling hills that seem to go on for days along with plentiful trees. The race will be run on paved surfaces throughout, making the journey a bit easier on participants.

Throughout the half, runners will be greeted by Amish children who will be stationed at four schools that are located along the race route to hand out cold water to runners. By the end of it all, runners end right back where they started — in front of Miller’s Bakery & Furniture.
