Part of a series of 5K, 10K, 10-mile, 20-mile and half marathon races that are organized across the Columbus metro area and this part of Ohio throughout the year by Ultrafit USA, the Columbus Half Marathon, 10K & 5K takes runners on an out-and-back run through Three Creeks Metro Park for one of the area’s oldest half marathon races.
Organizers say they expect as many as 1,000 runners to show up for all three races combined, all of which will feature out-and-back courses that start and finish at Hilliard Darby Stadium at Hilliard Darby High School.
From there, the straight out-and-back course winds along the historic Rails Trails heading northwest from the high school trails that lead through the park toward nearby Plain City, where runners turn around and retrace their steps back to the finish line.
Along the race route, which winds along a combination of park roads and trails along the Rails Trails, runners will pass through the park’s abundant beech-maple forest and may get to see some of the exposed cliffs of Ohio shale along the route as well.
The scheduled starting time for the race is 7:00 AM, and the race is open to runners as well as walkers.
