Curious about the company that makes many of the tires you see on the road? Want to tour the fifth-largest city in Ohio? The Goodyear Half Marathon & 10K lead runners through Akron while giving runners a chance to run on Goodyear’s test course.
Beginning and finishing at Goodyear’s global headquarters in Akron, the half marathon begins by heading north along Innovation Way toward Market Street before a turnaround and return along River Street. Runners pass Goodyear’s headquarters and Goodyear Field again while running down Innovation Way and past Akron Fulton International Airport.
Much of the middle section of the half marathon takes place in Akron’s Ellet neighborhood, primarily a residential area consisting of single-family homes southeast of downtown Akron. From there the course retraces some of its steps back toward Goodyear headquarters, with a stop on the proving track along the way, where Goodyear tests its products.
With a four-hour time limit, the half marathon is accessible and welcoming to those wishing to walk the half marathon course.
