Curious about the company that makes many of the tires you see on the road? Want to tour the fifth-largest city in Ohio? The Goodyear Half Marathon & 10K lead runners through Akron while giving runners a chance to run on Goodyear’s test course.
Beginning and finishing at Goodyear’s global headquarters in Akron, the half marathon begins at the Goodyear Field’s proving field, where Goodyear tests its products. After making a lap around the track, runners then head north along Innovation Way toward Market Street. After the turnaround and return along River Street, runners cut through the alley and run through the heart of Goodyear’s headquarters.
Much of the middle section of the half marathon takes place in Akron’s Ellet neighborhood, primarily a residential area consisting of single-family homes southeast of downtown Akron. From there the course retraces some of its steps back toward Goodyear headquarters.
With a four-hour time limit, the half marathon is accessible and welcoming to those wishing to walk the half marathon course.
