Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K

Sunday, April 28, 2024 • Oklahoma City, OKCourse Map

Run as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the tragedy that occurred in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995, the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay & 5K is run not just to remember the loss of that sad day but to memorialize the love, compassion and generosity of those whose memory lives on.

Throughout the course, 168 banners fly to commemorate each individual who gave their life that day, and to remind the runners, volunteers and spectators of life’s precious gifts — as well as the Oklahoma City National Memorial, where the race starts and finishes.

In past years, more than 10,000 runners, walkers and wheelchair competitors have crossed the finish line in all races combined, including just over 9,000 runners and walkers in the half marathon alone.

The course for the half-marathon is run entirely on paved surfaces through the streets of Oklahoma City, starting near the memorial and running in a generally counter-clockwise direction through the city.

Along the way, runners pass sights such as the University of Oklahoma campus, the State Capitol complex, Goodholm and Edgemere Parks, and Myriad Gardens.

Along the course, runners experience mostly gently rolling terrain with really no difficult hills to speak of — over the course of the race, there is a change in elevation of about 150 feet.

Half marathon participants start with the full marathon runners and follow the same course until reaching mile 9, when the half marathoners split off and turn left on Northwest 41st Street. The last four miles take them southward and eastward, past Perle Mesta Park toward the finish.

Race Weather & Climate

Located near the geographic center of the state, just over 200 miles north of Dallas, Texas, Oklahoma City typically sees mild to warm and occasionally hot weather in early October, a month that typically brings temperatures from the low 50s to the high 70s.

On race day (April 28), the average low is 55ºF and the average high is 72ºF.

I feel we should role over the 2020 sign up for 2021. Nit interested in doing a virtual run. It isn’t the same as being with all the runners. Until the Covid under control. I can’t wait. I would like a email on the decision you make. Thank You everyone for what you do for rhe race. Email is Kaykmoore@sbcglobal.net.

I entered my daughter in law for the half marathon. I used my email address but would like to change the notifications to go directly to her. I gave her this as a Christmas Gift & she is beyond excited.
How do I go about changing all the notices to go directly to her?

    Thank you

      Hi there Rhonda!

To do this, I think it’s best to reach out to the official race website and organizers, and you can find them here:

      https://okcmarathon.com/

They also have a Contact Us page where you can email them — be sure to click “Yes” at the question that asks if you’ve read the FAQs.

      Hope that helps!

For employees who work at business’s all along the route why do you not offer a parking pass for perhaps $5 that business’s can buy for their employees to put on their dash that would allow them to get past the road blocks! I work at 8am , 42nd & Western. I have to park 9 blocks away & walk. What insanity. Thanks alot OKC Memorial Marathon committee! If I wanted to be in your marathon I would have registered.
