Embrace the scenic charm of the historic Hudson Valley at the Castle to River Run on Sunday, October 20, 2024! This fundraising event features a 1/2 Marathon, a 5K run (welcoming walkers and hikers), and a Kids Fun Run, benefiting The Friends of Philipstown Recreation, a 501c3 organization supporting recreational programs in Cold Spring, Garrison, Nelsonville, and Continental Village, NY. Donations are welcomed at www.FriendsOfPhilipstownRecreation.org.

The 1/2 Marathon course winds through the picturesque Hudson Highlands State Park, providing a stunning journey to the Hudson River, including a special highlight – passing by the historic Osborn Castle. Respect the owner’s privacy by adhering to race day access rules.

The 5K run traces part of Benedict Arnold’s escape path, leading down to the Hudson River and looping back to the Philipstown Recreation Center. Additionally, a delightful 1-mile Kids Fun Run unfolds on the recreation center grounds, allowing children to relish the fall foliage. Kids Run sign-up is available on race day for $5.

Runner check-in commences at 7:30am, with the 1/2 Marathon starting at 9:00am, 5K at 9:30am, and Kids Race at 10:30am. The 1/2 Marathon course blends single and double tracks, dirt roads, and intermittent paved sections. The trails offer a mix of mild and challenging technical terrain, with some rolling hills. The 5K loop is mainly flat, featuring dirt single trails and grass, providing a runnable and non-technical experience.

As the course crosses private property, a pre-race map won’t be provided, but elevation profiles for each race can be viewed in the race photos. Immerse yourself in the captivating landscapes of the Hudson Valley while supporting a worthy cause!
