Athens, Georgia isn’t just about college football — it’s also the home of the Chick-Fil-A Connect Half Marathon, held each April in the home of the Georgia Bulldogs.
The half marathon starts in downtown Athens on East Washington Street and proceeds on a loop course. From there, runners turn on Broad Street and run up and back along the North Oconee River before entering the University of Georgia campus, running past Sanford Stadium and various campus buildings. After exiting the UGA campus and running through residential neighborhoods, the course makes its way back to downtown Athens and toward the finish line near the start point.
If you’re not ready to run a half marathon, a two-person relay option is also available, in which each person runs 6.55 miles of the half marathon course. And if you want to walk the course, you can do that as well, provided you can finish in 3 hours and 55 minutes (18 minutes per mile).
