Overview

Saturday, June 7, 2025, marks the 21st annual City of Trails Trail Run, hosted in picturesque St. Croix Falls, known as Wisconsin’s “City of Trails.” Organized in conjunction with National Trails Day® and the Ice Age Trail Alliance, this event celebrates trail running across five distances: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1K fun run, all starting and finishing at Trap Rock Brewing Company. The festival-like atmosphere promotes health, trail stewardship, and Wisconsin pride.

🌄 Course & Race Experience

Events kick off midday: the Marathon starts at 11:30 AM UTC, while the Half Marathon follows at 12:30 PM. The 5K and 10K begin at 1:30 PM. Players will tackle rugged, glacier-sculpted trails of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, winding through dense forest, rocky outcrops, and river valley vistas. Trail conditions vary year to year—expect dirt, tree roots, possible spring mud, and notable elevation changes that challenge and reward equally.

🎯 Unique Highlights

Held on National Trails Day, this event supports the Ice Age Trail Alliance and underscores civic pride in St. Croix Falls’ extensive trail network. The weekend festivity, capped and well-supported, appeals to hikers, ultrarunners, and hikers alike—many distances are suited for both running and walking. With only about half a mile of pavement, the focus is authentically rugged trail running.

The City of Trails Trail Run offers an iconic, rooted-in‑community trail running event in St. Croix Falls. With rugged trail conditions, scenic valley views, and position on National Trails Day, it provides a wild‑feeling yet carefully supported experience across multiple distances. Ideal for trail lovers seeking connection, challenge, and celebration of Wisconsin’s trail heritage.
