Start 2026 on a high note with CaliFlow Runs’ waterfront event, celebrating the year’s first sunrise on January 1, 2026. Held along the iconic beach path at 5400 E Ocean Blvd, this annual run offers a choice of 5K, 10K, or half-marathon distances, each on flat, paved terrain certified for accuracy.
The half-marathon kicks off at 7:00 AM PST, followed by the shorter distances at 7:30 AM. Participants run out-and-back loops along the Pacific coast, soaking in ocean views, mild winter air, and a festive start to the year. The atmosphere is upbeat yet relaxed—start-line music, photo-worthy backdrops, and a community vibe.
Each participant receives a sparkling New Year’s finisher’s medal, free race-day photos, and post-race refreshments to toast their accomplishment. Although it’s designed as a fun and communal celebration, the flat profile also supports runners chasing early-season PRs on a USATF-certified course.
Staying true to CaliFlow’s ethos, the event is small-scale and inclusive—“perfect for beginners and seasoned runners alike”, while delivering polished production and coastal scenery. It’s a balanced kick-off: festive, scenic, community-driven, and performance-ready.

“I ran about 5 races by them in both Santa Monica and Long Beach…A budget operation but it was well executed.”
