Take a run through the green, rolling hills of eastern Nebraska’s Logan and Elkhorn river valley at the Logan View Raider Run Marathon, Half Marathon, 50K and 5K race, which makes its 8th annual running between the small towns of Hooper, Uehling and Scriber just outside Omaha on the first weekend of September.
The race will be run as a benefit for the Logan View Education Foundation, a locally based nonprofit here in this small town of just over 800 residents, which supports the students and faculty and the programs they enjoy at Logan View Junior and Senior High School, which is also where runners will start and finish the out-and-back course for the race.
Runners start the half marathon, like the full marathon, on campus. From there, the course heads north along Highway 77, County Road G and Wheatley Road, which runners will follow as it heads mostly northward and zig-zags somewhat as runners are approaching Uehling, where the race turnaround point for the half marathon lies.
After making the turn, runners then retrace their steps all the way south along the route they’ve just run, all the way back to the school for the race finish.
Check-in for the race will be available at Logan View High School, and runners will finish the race near the track and field oval after making their way around the edges of campus.
Race Weather & Climate
Nestled along the Elkhorn River in eastern Nebraska, just miles from the Iowa border and roughly 45 miles northwest of Omaha, Hooper typically sees some of its warmest weather of the year in August, which has brought record temperatures here as low as 39°F (in 1950) and as high as 109°F (in 1955).
On race day (Aug. 22), the average low is 61ºF and the average high is 85ºF.
