The Memorial Day Run on the White River Trail in downtown Lyons, WI, is dedicated to the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. Distances include a 10K, half marathon (13.1 miles), and 5K, all of which start in the morning. Open to everyone and dog friendly, the races take place on crushed limestone paths that were once part of the SOO Railway.
There is no entry fee for veterans, active duty members, reserves, and law enforcement and their spouses. Participants who fall into these categories should email proof of their service to receive a promo code. All other participants pay $24 for online registration or $34 on the day of the event. Online registration closes at 10 a.m. on the Friday before the event.
Participants are encouraged to bring flags to adorn the start/finish area to create a tribute honoring military heroes. There is also the option to donate to Kenosha Running Company’s Red, White, and Blue Program, which supports active and retired military personnel and their spouses.
After completing their races, participants are invited to a celebration to support local businesses in Lyons, where they can purchase race swag.
