Want to run through wine country but can’t get to Napa? Now’s your chance with the Michigan Wine Trail Half Marathon & 5K, a challenging road course that passes several wineries in Michigan’s Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail.

The half marathon begins in Baroda Industrial Park, just south of downtown Baroda, Michigan. From there, half marathoners continue southeast along Hills Road for just under a mile before turning left onto Singer Lake Road. Here runners pass a vineyard and the first aid station around mile 2.

After turning right onto East Lemon Creek Road, travelling between vineyards and two wineries: Lemon Creek Winery and Domaine Berrien Cellars. A right turn onto Burgoyne Road leads runners south past more grape vineyards and apple orchards, as well as the second aid station in front of Free Run Cellars. A right turn onto East Snow Road marks the approximate halfway point of the half marathon, and the course continues on East Snow Road for about a mile before another right turn onto Lauer Road.

The course continues north on Lauer Road, passing Gravity Winery near mile 8.5, until reaching East Lemon Creek Road again. At this point, runners retrace their first several miles back to the finish line.

The course cutoff time is four hours, providing walkers who can maintain an 18:19 mile an opportunity to complete the race.

Race organizers note that Michigan is located in the Eastern time zone, despite Baroda’s proximity to areas observing Central Time. Runners travelling from out of town should plan accordingly.
