Overview

Held annually in late August, the Nocterra Quitter’s Run, presented by Brooks at Nocterra Brewing in Powell, Ohio, invites runners to test endurance, composure—and a sense of humor—on a flat, looping 3.2 mile course. On Sunday, August 24, 2025, the half marathon begins at 10:00 AM EDT, demanding four laps to complete 13.1 miles—under a strict 3-hour cutoff.

This event balances competition and camaraderie. The course threads through streets, bike paths and sidewalks, all starting and finishing at the brewery’s beer garden. Aid is informal, and runners are cheekily tempted to “quit early” for a beer break, but only those who finish within the time limit are official finishers. Anyone not completing by 1:00 PM earns the humorous title of “Quitter.”

Swag includes a race shirt and free beer ticket for half marathon runners; overall finishers receive brewery-themed prizes. Participants across other distances (1/8, ¼, full marathon, ultra) join the fun—but the half marathon uniquely balances performance with beer garden reward. With an energetic emcee delivering playful jabs, live music, and beer garden access, this boutique event delivers a memorable and social midweek running experience for Central Ohio.

🌟 Why You’ll Love It

The Nocterra Quitter’s Run is part brewery outing, part endurance challenge—and a half marathon that rewards both grit and community spirit. Its looped format and social finish line create an inclusive atmosphere for serious runners and casual participants alike. The brewery setting, playful quitting hooks, and strict time cutoff make it a memorable race that doesn’t take itself too seriously—except when you’re racing.

Course Description

The course is a mix of streets, bike paths, and sidewalks.

This is the loop you’ll be running during your selected version of the Nocterra Quitter’s Run. The loop is a mixture of Powell streets, bike paths, and sidewalks. We will have arrow signs all throughout the course, but at all “neighborhood entrance” crossings please note that vehicles will have the right of way.

There are also two railroad crossings that may affect your run and make you think about quitting! One shortly after the start line (an easy walk back to the finish to quit!), and one near mile 2. Please keep your eyes open at all times and yield to traffic when present. We will also have a vehicle available near mile 2 for transport of any ill or injured participants. If you just want to quit, suffer and walk back!
